How to get steam backup codes?
Log in to your steam account and from there go to :
Steam > Settings > Account > Manage Steam Guard > Get Backup Codes > Generate
You should be able to get a list of 30+ Backup codes that have been generated. In case you change your steam password the current backup codes u have just generated would not be valid, meaning that you would have to re-generate the new ones in order for them to work.
Note that Steam Backup codes are available only if you are using Mobile Guard.
What are the Steam backup codes? Are they used for Trading / Changing Steam Credentials like Password and so on?
Steam Backup Codes are used only for the easier logging in to your account. They are simply not used for either changing the password or accepting trade offers as it would result with an error. You can test it your self on your end and see that it's only being used for entering the account. People usually generate steam backup codes so they can enter the account quicker then if they would be checking for their Steam Guard on their Mobile in order to log in to the account.
